FN HERSTAL – MINIMI™ 5.56 and 7.62 Machine Guns, and .50 Calibre Heavy Machine Guns
Under the brand names FN HERSTAL, Browning, and Winchester, the Herstal Group equips virtually the entire world with military small arms. It owes its worldwide recognition to its invention, continuing commitment to quality and thorough understanding of its customers’ military small arms and weapons needs.
FN HERSTAL designs, manufactures and distributes a full range of military small arms, firearms, weapons and accessories for defence and law enforcement, and helicopter and aircraft weapon systems for multi-role helicopters and subsonic aircraft.
FN HERSTAL not only supplies the customer with machine-guns specially adapted to airborne applications, but also integrates the weaponry into the carrier by providing and installing suspension masts, stores and management systems, electrical cabling, and sighting devices
FN HERSTAL MINIMI™ 5.56 MACHINE GUN
The MINIMI™ light belt-fed 5.56 machine gun can be mounted on tripods and vehicle mounts to provide 1,000rpm firepower up to 1,000m.
Both a customised Para model (with a shorter barrel and sliding buttstock), and a SPW model (with features removed to decrease weight) of the MINIMI™ 5.56 machine gun are also available. These specialised MINIMI™ 5.56 machine guns have a range of 800m, and the SPW’s rate of fire is 750rpm.
MINIMI™ 7.62 MACHINE GUN
FN HERSTAL recently launched the MINIMI™ 7.62 x 51mm lightweight machine gun, to fulfil a growing worldwide requirement for a machine gun which provides the power of 7.62 ammunition in a 5.56 weight machine gun.
MINIMI™ 5.56 and 7.62 machine guns have most parts in common, and similar ergonomics. A MINIMI™ 5.56 machine gun user therefore needs no extra training to utilise the MINIMI™ 7.62 machine gun.
The MINIMI™ 7.62 machine gun is equipped with a medium barrel (longer than the MINIMI™ 5.56 machine gun and shorter than the MAG 7.62 machine gun).
The MINIMI™ 7.62 machine gun weighs less than 1kg more than the MINIMI™ 5.56 machine gun, and approximately 4kg less than the MAG 7.62 machine gun.
ADVANTAGE OF THE MINIMI™ 7.62 MACHINE-GUN
The MINIMI™ 5.56 machine gun is used as a light support weapon and requires the user to carry the weapon and at least 600 rounds, while the MAG 7.62 machine gun is the ideal medium machine gun for tripods or being mounted on vehicles, but is heavy for any role requiring the user to carry it.
The MINIMI™ 7.62 machine gun is a perfect compromise, providing the power of 7.62 ammunition in a machine gun of 5.56 weight.
M2HB-QCB .50 CAL HEAVY MACHINE GUN
The M2HB-QCB .50 cal heavy machine gun is capable of firing explosive incendiary rounds and a full range of ball, tracer, armour-piercing and incendiary cartridges. The M2HB-QCB .50 cal heavy machine gun provides heavy-fire support for the infantry against light armour, and can also be used to engage low-flying aircraft and helicopters.
M2HB-QCB .50 cal heavy machine guns are the ideal military small arms to mount on soft-skinned and armoured vehicles, and also on patrol boats as the main or secondary weapon.
FN HERSTAL MAG™ GPMG (GENERAL PURPOSE MACHINE-GUN)
The MAG™ 7.62mm medium-support machine gun has a 1,500m range (with tripod) and a cyclic rate of fire of up to 1,000rpm. MAG™ 7.62mm machine guns are easily-mountable on vehicles, aircraft and boats. The MAG™ 7.62mm machine gun weapon therefore provides both effective defence against dismounted troops in the open, and behind light protective-structures.
7.62MM NATO AMMUNITION ROUNDS
FN HERSTAL’s 7.62mm NATO ammunition rounds provide excellent penetration and are available in armour-piercing format.
F2000 INTEGRATED WEAPON-SYSTEM
The design of the F2000 integrated weapon-system, based on interchangeable modules, and its capability to take a variety of accessories, enables it to meet the present and future requirement of different types of units in a wide range of missions. The F2000 integrated weapon-system is the first 5.56 bullpup rifle to be fully ambidextrous without modification.
5.7 X 28mm WEAPON SYSTEM
The 5.7 x 28mm weapon system is based around the SS190 round of the P90® submachine gun and Five-seveN® pistol. Both weapons are ergonomically designed with no protruding parts, and these high-quality military small arms can be very quickly field-stripped without tools.
P90® SUBMACHINE GUNS
P90® submachine guns are fitted with an integrated optical-sight that allows the user to shoot with both eyes open, and have a maximum effective-range of 200m and a 900rpm firing rate.
FIVE-SEVEN® TACTICAL PISTOLS
Five-seveN® tactical pistols are single-action military small arms with hidden hammers, characterised by short, light trigger-pulls for fast, accurate shooting.
AIRCRAFT-MOUNTED MACHINE GUNS
FN HERSTAL’s range of aircraft crew-served weapons includes a 7.62mm and a .50 cal machine gun. These aircraft weapons can be installed either externally, on floors, or in windows.
FN HERSTAL provides the interfaces (such as pintles), design, installation and integration of these helicopter and aircraft weapon systems.
ROCKET LAUNCHER AND MACHINE GUN WEAPON PODS
FN HERSTAL produces rocket launchers of varying capacities, machine gun pods and combined rocket-launcher and machine gun pods for helicopters and subsonic aircraft.
