U.S. soldier dies from non-combat related incident in N Iraq

An American soldier died from a non-combat related incident in northern Iraq, the U.S. military said on Sunday.

A soldier assigned to Multi-National Division – North died from an incident in Nineveh province on Saturday, a military statement said.

The incident is under investigation, it said.

The name of the deceased soldier is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, it added.

The latest death brings the number of U.S. soldiers killed in Iraq to more than 3,940 since the U.S.-led invasion in 2003, according to media count based on Pentagon figures.
