An Afghan-ISAF joint patrol operating in the Koti village of Kapisa province, Feb. 27, conducted an operation against an insurgent leader responsible for supplying weapons and equipment used in attacks against Afghan and ISAF forces.
During the operation, several armed men were observed near the compound.
When the men displayed hostile intent, the joint patrol took defensive measures, which resulted in the killing of several of the men.
Throughout the operation, Afghan national police protected two women and two children in an adjacent compound. No civilians were injured in this operation.
This operation was based on reliable intelligence information, and ISAF follows strict guidelines when engaging in deadly force against confirmed insurgents and their activities.
