Names of the Dead

The Department of Defense has identified 4,217 American service members who have died since the start of the Iraq war and 625 who have died as part of the Afghan war and related operations. It confirmed the deaths of the following Americans this week:

Afghanistan:

CASSADA, Jessie A., 19, Lance Cpl., Marines; Hendersonville, N.C.; Second Marine Expeditionary Force.

Iraq:

DAVIS, Anthony D., 29, Staff Sgt., Army; Daytona Beach, Fla.; 75th Ranger Regiment.

GILLIAM, Chadwick A., 29, Lance Cpl., Marines; Mayking, Ky.; Second Marine Expeditionary Force.
