ANP, ISAF Find Two Weapons Caches in Kandahar
KABUL, Afghanistan Combined Afghan National Police and International Security Assistance Forces found two weapons caches Jan. 5 while conducting joint clearing operations in Kandahar City.
The joint operations were part of a continued effort to drive Taliban from the area and restore security in the region.
Weapons seized included 12 AK-47 rifles, one rocket propelled grenade launcher, one pistol, four bulletproof vests, two rocket propelled grenade rounds, 13 hand-grenades, multiple components of bomb making materials, various munitions and multiple desert combat uniforms.
“It is important when we find these caches because it defeats the Taliban’s ability to operate,” said Sgt. Lal Mohammad with the Afghan National Civil Order Police. “It’s good for the people to see that the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Afghan National Security Forces and ISAF are winning.”
