The Department of Defence has announced the death of another Michigan soldier.

Sgt. Dillon B. Foxx, 22 of Traverse City, died Friday in Afghanistan of wounds suffered when his unit was attacked with an IED.

Foxx was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division based at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

"Our sympathies and heartfelt prayers are with the family and friends of Sgt. Foxx who suffer for their loss," U.S. Rep. Pete Hoekstra of Holland said in a statement. "Sgt. Foxx was a brave young man who sacrificed his life as he defended his country abroad, and he will not be forgotten."

Dillon, I was one of your fathers for a short few years and will never forget you. I always wanted to reconnect with you but did not want to upset your mother. You shall always be a Hero and a Patriot to this country. I have photos of your great smile. May you be held close to God for your sacrifice.
