Funeral Planned For Adairsville Marine Killed In Afghanistan
The 20-year-old Adairsville Marine killed in Afghanistan last Thursday will arrive back in Georgia on Thursday afternoon. The plane carrying Lance Cpl. Seth Sharp back for funeral services will land at Tom David Airport in Calhoun at about 3 p.m. Thursday and a processional will carry the young soldier to the North Pointe Church in Adairsville.
Funeral services will be held at the church Saturday at 2 p.m. with interrment to follow in Adairsville’s East View Cemetery.
Sharp’s writing essay for his GED said, “Over the next few years, I would like to achieve one goal. The goal is to complete basic training for the Marines. This goal is hard for anybody to achieve. I was told time and time again that when you put your mind to something that anything is possible and don’t let anybody tell you that you can’t do something.” Sharp clearly attained his goal and gave his life for his country.
Sharp was killed during operation strike of the sword, which is the latest push by the U.S. Marine Corps taking on the Taliban.
Sharp attended Adairsville High School, where he played football, and left school early to join the Marines.
He was serving in Company E of the 2nd Battalion, 8th Marines
