The funeral will take place on Monday of a soldier from Belfast who died in Afghanistan

Lance Corporal Nigel Moffett, of the Light Dragoons, was killed in an explosion in Helmand Province on the 30th of May.

The 28 year old, from the Holywood area of Belfast, was one of two British solders killed in the attack.

His funeral will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Annadale Avenue, Belfast.

Lance Corporal Moffett will then be buried at Redburn Cemetery on the Old Holywood Road in Belfast, with full military honours.

Speaking at the time of his death Mr Moffett's father, Nigel Moffett Senior, said: "Nigel felt he was prepared for operations in that he was well trained and had the right tools for the job.

"Both he and his family understood that ultimately he could die although we didn't want this to happen. Ultimately, Nigel was a soldier."

Mr Moffett, from the Holywood area of Belfast, had served in Afghanistan and Iraq since joining the army in 2003.
